LIVES AND WORKS IN SEOUL, KOREA

Gee Song(b.1980), currently based in Seoul, graduated from the Department of Painting and Printmaking at Ewha Womans University, College of Fine Arts, and completed her MFA at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work is characterised by the superimposition and rearrangement of images of everyday objects, architecture and nature, making them appear surreal and artificial. The flat, perspective-less canvases are constructed from the artist's imagination, inviting the viewer to experience a fictionalised reality.

Some of Song’s recent solo exhibitions include 《Sky, Sea, Land》(Youngeun Museum, Gwangju-si-Gyeonggi-do, Korea, 2019). Additionally, she participated in many group exhibitions such as 《Making Colors》(Yeoju World Ceramic Livingware Gallery, Yeoju, Korea, 2020), 《-2020+》(Kwanhoon Gallery, Seoul, Korea, 2020), 《Infinite Play》(Musesseum, Ulsan, Korea, 2023). She has been selected for the 2010 Open Call for Young Artists hosted by the Alternative Space LOOP in Seoul, recognized as an emerging artist by the Korean Cultural Centre UK in 2008.
