Lives and works in Busan, Korea
After completing her studies in Industrial Design at Hongik University, Miju Lee(b.1982) moved to Barcelona to study Painting and Illustration. The artist depicts everyday scenes as if she were keeping a visual diary, without any purpose. Her works represent everyday objects, but also stimulate the viewer's imagination by sensitively arranging disparate and contradictory elements. The Yeti sculptures, the artist's signature series, have a lumpy appearance that gives the impression of playfulness and mischief. Crouching expressionlessly, the Yeti seems to be an extremely introverted object, but it also has a strong sense of strength that is evident in its own presence.
Lee has recently had solo exhibitions abroad, including 《Perfect days》 (LA BIBI Gallery, Taipei, Majorca, 2024), 《Soft Power》 (Yiri Art, Taipei, Taiwan, 2023) and 《Memorandum del Quotidia with Grip Face》 (La Miseridordia, Palma, Spain, 2023). Her selected group exhibitions are such as 《Monomythology》(The Hole NYC, NY, USA, 2024), 《BEYOND PORTRAITURE》(Allouche Gallery, LA, USA, 2024), 《DEAR CABINET》(SEOJUNG ART, Seoul, Korea, 2023) and 《Interaction》(Gallery Zberro, Paris, France, 2023).
