Overview
Not confined to any square canvas, Nanan Kang’s work communicates with the public in the form of a picture on a window or a bunch of paper flowers brimming with vitality. Prestigious leading domestic and foreign brands hope for cooperation with the artist. This proves that Nanan is an artist of our time most loved by the public, and her works have a popular appeal that anyone can enjoy, and they can meet with ease anywhere and anytime.
In this exhibition Sitcom The Corn: EO.1-Corn Sweet Corn, Nanan hilariously produces a scene of a sitcom using corn as her medium. The viewer can take delight in the exhibition and receive the positive message Nanan intends to share, as if watching a sitcom. The exhibitition is a space of artistic sense and sensibility in which viewers are allowed to intensively relish the meaning of love and happiness, the cardinal theme of Nanan’s oeuvre. Nanan acts as a guide in our journey of life full of good-natured energy and joy, lending a stronger presence than just a food material to the corn, the subject of the exhibition as well as an object of joy.
The viewing point of this exhibition is how Nanan interprets and denotes ‘corn,’ its primary subject matter. The main character of this art show is the corn with a pearl earring. As soon as a viewer steps inside the venue, the ‘corn’ wearing a blue headscarf and a pearl earring on an alluring figure welcomes them in a Baroquesque frame. On display at the same time are an original painting of a diversely depicted cornfield and a video installation associated with this. Nanan collected audio directly in a cornfield and displays a video featuring an interview with corn cultivation professionals to touch on the birth and growth of corn more deeply, thereby trying to provide viewers with a special experience. In addition to this, her series Long Long Time Flower based on the viewer’s participation and involvement will be on display as well.
This exhibit explores what messages her corn conveys, revealing her hope that art can be a pleasure in everyday life. It is hoped this exhibition will serve as an opportunity for visitors to appreciate artworks alongside sympathy and wit.
